What’s required to step foot on the Climbing World Cup mats & try one of the Worlds Hardest Routes?

Insight into Toby Roberts' climbing and training as he prepares for the start of the Climbing World Cup season and the inevitable fight for points at the start of a season where everyone will have Paris 2024 in mind. Over the last few years, Toby has climbed Rainshadow (9a) aged 15, Hubble (9a) aged 16, Batman (9a/+) aged 17, as well as winning Britains first lead medal in 28 years with a Bronze medal at only his 2nd ever World Cup. This season he has 2 goals; to qualify for the Olympics, and to climb Perfecto Mundo (9b+). Will he succeed in either? The World Cup season starts in Hachioji on the 21st April 2023, and includes competitions in Seoul, Salt Lake City, Prague, Brixen, Innsbruck, Villars, Chamonix, Briancon, Bern (World Championships), Koper and Wujang. Toby will be competing at most of those events and trying to find time for hard outdoor climbing inbetween.
